The police say another suspected vote buyer was arrested at Ward 8 Unit 9 of Fiwasaye Area of Osogbo in Saturday's governorship election in Osun State. 

The image of the suspect was posted by the police on its Twitter page

"It wrote: Arrest of one Mr Adeagbo Wasiu, a suspected PDP Chieftain at Ward 8 Unit 9 Fiwasaye Area of Osogbo.

"He was apprehended in the act of votes buying and the sum of One Hundred and Sixteen Thousand (116,000) [Naira] was recovered from him".

Another suspected vote buyer arrested

Mr Wasiu was the third person whose image was posted by the police allegedly engaging in vote buying in an election that the electoral body said it had devised a means to reduce vote buying that characterised the Ekiti State governorship election.

It had stopped voters from using their mobile phones inside the polling booth. 

Mobile phones have played a major role in vote buying, with voters taking pictures of their ballot paper which they present as evidence for money reward from party agents. 

Two suspects were earlier arrested with 604,000 Naira allegedly meant for vote buying..

The Police said investigations were ongoing on the arrests made.
