Osun: PDP, Atiku Make Comments On Election Results
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) appear to be in jubilation mood, releasing what it called breaking news even before INEC announced the final result of the Osun governorship election.
While the entire Nigeria awaits the result of the election, the opposition party in the state, says; 'it is official', that with the results announced by the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC), it had won the election.
In a tweet on its Twitter handle, the PDP said: "Breaking news! This is now official. With the results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has won with 254,698 votes and closely followed by the defeated the All Progressives Congress, with 254,345 votes".
An image accompanying the tweet had the logo of the BBC on it.
The final result has not been declared and there are controversies.
First, is that of 1,000 votes allegedly missing and another alleged figures manipulation that the PDP claims had occurred.
The claim is that there was an inflation of figures by at least 2,000 votes.
The former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, also appears happy with the election result, emphasising that "the people of Osun State have made their choice".
On his Twitter page he wrote: "What is required of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is to express that decision without any subtraction or addition".
He also warned that "anything short of that is a threat to democracy and a call to anarchy".
