A former gubernatorial aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, Prof. Adeolu Durotoye has defected from the party and moved to the Action Democratic Party (ADP).

Consequent upon his movement to the ADP, the party has also confirmed his nomination as the deputy governorship candidate of the ADP to run alongside Moshood Adeoti who is the governorship candidate of the party.

It will be recalled  Durotoye contested the governorship ticket of the PDP but withdrew from the race a few hours to the primaries.

Checks  by Bounce News revealed that the party’s apex body conceded the slot to Durotoye, who is from Osun-Central, in order to reduce the chance of a likely block votes from the area for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the election.

It is believed that the choice of Durotoye could garner votes for the party in the senatorial district.

BREAKING! DSS Takes Over National Assembly

The ADP is relatively unknown in the state until the defection of Adeoti who was the former Secretary to the State Government  (SSG).

With the arrival of Adeoti and Durotoye, the party is sure to get more attention heading to the September 22 election.

Recall that the Deputy Chairman of the APC in the state, Azeez Adesiji, on Monday led nine members of the State Working Committee of the party and 6,200 members of the party at local government and ward levels to join the ADP.

The chairman of the ADP in the state, Toye Akinola, said he was happy with the mass defections of politicians from the ruling party to the opposition party.
