Governor of Osun State, Rauf Aregbesola is facing fresh turbulence over attempts to install his Chief of Staff, Gboyega Oyetola as his successor.

Oyetola is also the half-brother of Aregbesola's political mentor and national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu.

The latest development comes after Oyetola has emerged the APC's governorship candidate in the state in a process currently being contested in court by popular aspirant, Kunle Adegoke.

Emerging allegations suggest that the governor actually sponsored the campaigns of some of the aspirants in the shadow election.

“Adegoke, Adeoti and Lasun appear the people that didn’t fall into that category” a source stated.

Adegoke is Kunle Rasheed Adegoke, Adeoti is Moshood Adeoti who refused to partake in the election and dumped the APC to become the candidate of the Action Democratic Party while Yusuf Lasun is Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives

Lasun has continued to insist that the process was rigged to favor Oyetola.

The emerging allegation against Aregbesola is that he gave the other aspirants “between N50million to N150million”.

The interpretation being given the “donation” is that it was made to make the beneficiaries act as “props” to give the shadow election “a façade of correctness”.
