Governor Rauf Aregbesola is allegedly plotting to shift the All Progressives Congress primary election to determine the party’s candidate for the Osun governorship polls.

The party had already scheduled the exercise for Saturday July 7, 2018.

All the 30 aspirants seeking to pick the party’s ticket are said to have worked hard to secure favorable counts from the over 5000 delegates earmarked to vote.

But Aregbesola is said to be plotting a shift to Saturday July 21, 2018.

It was gathered that the July 7 date was ratified by the out gone national executive led by John Oyegun to allow for two weeks for the resolution of whatever conflicts arise from the process, as done in Ondo and Ekiti states.

The date also took into consideration the fact that the APC is faced with a major election in Ekiti on July 14.

According to the deadline of electoral umpire, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), all political parties have till July 23 to resolve disputes from primary elections.

Bounce News gathered that party members are kicking against Aregbesola’s move to shift the July 7 primary election till July 21, leaving no room for any reconciliation process.

Insiders claim the agitation is based on claims that the governor is plotting a hastily conducted election that would favour his Chief of Staff, Gboyega Oyetola, with the result quickly submitted leaving no room for party men to kick against it.

Oyetola is the step brother and candidate of the national leader of the party, Bola Ahmed Tinubu .

Meanwhile, new National Chairman of the party, Adams Osiomhole is already being accused of favoring Aregbesola’s plot.

It was gathered that the move to foist Oyetola on Osun APC, and especially the alleged plan to shift the primary election is causing great agitation amongst party men.

Amongst the populace, Oyetola is said to be facing growing challenges based on his link to Tinubu.

“Members and people on the street are threatening protest votes against the move to make Tinubu’s candidate governor of the state” a source claimed.

Already, opposition parties, particularly the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have been milking the sentiments against Oyetola to secure support for their own agenda.

“They are now jubilating that Aregbesola is about to create a situation that would sow confusion in his party with virtually no room for reconciliation” a source disclosed.

Insiders disclosed opposition members are already moving into the situation and going to town with strong assertions that Aregbesola has shifted the date of the primary election, and the voting process as part of a desperate move to make Tinubu’s candidate the governor of the state at all costs.

“They are laying foundation for people to turn against Aregebsola and APC for obvious reasons” a source summed up the situation.
