Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State has declared Thursday and Friday as public holidays.

This is to enable Osun residents prepare and participate in the local government elections scheduled to hold on Saturday.

The governor urged eligible voters in the state to come out and perform their civic responsibilities at the poll.

‎Speaking through his Media Adviser, Sola. Fasure, Aregbesola stated that the election must reflect the people's determination and hope to elect good, credible and trustworthy leaders.

He urged residents to conduct themselves in an orderly and lawful manner that will project the best of Omoluabi.

He gave an assurance that the state electoral commission will conduct hitch-free, credible, free, fair and transparent council elections.

Law enforcement agencies are also ready and put on alert to protect lives and property and prevent breach of the peace and disruption of the election.

The main opposition party in the state Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) in the state is boycotting the polls.
