Tragedy occurred in Abudo village in Egbedore Local Government Area of Osun State when one of the wives of the traditional ruler set ablaze the house of the monarch’s other wife.

Folashade Olawale was said to have conspired with two other people to burn Kadijat Olawale's house. The inferno trapped and killed the toddler.

The mother of the deceased is also presently at the intensive care unit of an undisclosed hospital receiving treatment for burns on her body.

Osun State Commissioner of Police, Fimihan Adeoye, made this known to newsmen in Osogbo when he parade the suspects.

According to Adeoye, the incident was reported to the police by Oba Morufudeen Olawale, the Alabudo of Abudo Village in Egbedore Local Government Area.

Adeoye said it was reported that the suspect and her accomplices, at about 1am, on June 6, left their base in Ede for Abudo Village, where the monarch’s other wife and her late daughter were residing and set the house on fire.

He said police investigation further revealed that the suspect is the third wife of Oba Olawale, the man who reported the matter to the police, while the victim’s mother is his fourth wife.

Adeoye, however, said the police would soon charge all three arrested suspects to court.

Folasade was said to have attributed her action to spiritual forces claiming that she was under a spell.

The suspect said she gave birth to only one child for the monarch and the child died sometime ago.

Before getting married to the traditional ruler, Folasade was said to have divorced two different men after giving birth to eight children.
