Osun 2018: Speaker Denies Collecting N250m From Tinubu
The Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Najeem Salam, says despite the efforts by some politicians to witch-hunt him, his dream of becoming the next Governor of Osun State remains valid.
He revealed that some merchants of falsehood had since been peddling lies against him that he received a lump sum of N250m from Bola Tinubu to drop his governorship dream and throw his weight behind an undisclosed aspirant.
The Speaker said this in Osogbo while declaring his governorship intention at the state secretariat of the ruling All Progressives Congress in the state.
Salam said it is impossible for him to still come out to contest if truly he was paid not to.
He said: “They came up with falsehood that I went to Lagos and I was paid to drop my governorship ambition. It is not true. There is no way I would come out this way if I had been paid.
“Would they not ask me the reason behind my declaration if truly I had been paid to drop my ambition? No amount of blackmail can stop me.”
“Governance is not a tea party but rather it is a serious business for well experienced politicians.
” Being the number three citizen in the state, I have the political experience to move the state forward.
“There is no doubt that I will be Gov. Aregbesola’s worthy successor.
In his remarks, Gboyega Famodun, the APC State Chairman, said the party would give all the aspirants a level playing ground during the primary.
Famodun commended Salaam for coming out to declare his intention for the governorship position.
