A panel set up by the Presidency to investigate allegations of corruption against the suspended Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Mr Babachir Lawal, will submit its report on Monday.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, who heads the panel, announced plans to submit the report in a tweet posted on Wednesday night on his Twitter handle.

The Vice President said the report would be submitted to President Muhammadu Buhari who was absent from the Federal Executive Council meeting of Wednesday.

The panel was set up after the Nigerian Senate put forward allegations of corruption against the SGF.

Mr Lawal has denied the lawmakers' claims, saying it was an attempt to rubbish his person.

The Vice President's announcement is coming on a day that a Senate committee established to investigate involvement of the SGF in what they called alleged flouting of the Procurement Act by the SGF, presented its report to the Senate.

The committee said that Mr Lawal's involvement in alleged misappropriation of funds meant to cater for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the northeast had brought more hardship on the IDPs.

They want him prosecuted.
