One person has been killed in a fresh attack by gunmen in a village in Plateau State.

About 30 houses were also razed during the attack on Rotsu village, Irigwe Chiefdom in Bassa Local Government Area.

The attack comes a few days after a similar incident in a neighbouring village in the local government, known as Nkyie Doghwro.

In that incident about 29 people were killed by armed persons who attacked the community.

The attackers, who invaded the village at midnight on Monady, also destroyed farm produce worth millions of Naira.

Following the attack, the village has been deserted.

Confirming the fresh attack, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, Mathias Tyopev, said the Commissioner of Police, Jeremiah Undie,  has ordered intensive patrol of the community to restore law and order.

He said no arrest has been made so far, but investigation is ongoing.
