Ondo Monarch's Kidnappers Demand 15 Million Naira
The kidnappers of the traditional ruler of Iyani Akoko, Ondo State, Oba Joel Daodu, want 15 million naira ransom.
According to Vanguard, the Oba’s family is pleading that the ransom be reduced to between N500,000 and N1 million.
Earlier reports said he was forcefully taken from his palace at the weekend, while other media say he was kidnapped along Owo/Ikare Expressway.
Oba Daodu’s abduction is coming barely two years after the Regent of Akungba, Princes Oluwatoyin Omosowan, was kidnapped.
Kidnapping has become a lucrative venture in Nigeria.
Over the last five years, several celebrities, traditional rulers, politicians and businessmen have been taken away by abductors who demand significant sums in exchange for their safe return.
