ONDO BANK ROBBERY: Police, Residents Disagree On Suspect's Arrest
It's been over 24 hours since the bandits raided the bank and carted away yet to be confirmed sums of money.
The Police Command in Ondo state has a lot of convincing to do because the people are not buying their latest success story.
On Friday, police authorities in the state announced the arrest of a member of the armed gang that raided the premises of Skye Bank in Ifon, Ose local government area.
The suspect was arrested in Sobe in Edo state where he was receiving treatment from the gunshot injury he sustained during the operation.
The state commissioner of police, Gbenga Adeyanju who announced the arrest, also visited the families of the three slain police officers.
However, his claims have been challenged by some residents in the affected community. They say the fellow being held by the police was in the bank during the attack conducting his personal transaction.
He was later rushed to benin because there were no vehicles heading to Akure where he could receive treatment and the clinic in Benin was considered closer by first respondents.
When presented with this information, the commissioner declined to comment saying investigation is still ongoing.
