Ondo Assembly Reopens After 30 Days Closure
The Ondo State House of Assembly complex was sealed off by the Police on February 2, following its leadership crisis.
The complex was shut down on the directive of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim Idris.
The crisis started after the suspension of the Speaker, Deputy Speaker and the Majority Leader.
The former Speaker of the House, Mrs. Jumoke Akindele was accused of fraud by 13 lawmakers who eventually impeached her and deputy speaker, Fatai Olotu.
The crisis in the House prevented the former governor of the state, Olusegun Mimiko from presenting the 2017 budget.
Workers in the House of Assembly, who also vacated the complex during the one month closure have resumed work.
Although Police officers and men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) are still noticed at the complex, normal activities began on Thursday.
