Ondo APC Crisis Deepens
For reasons best known to him, Chief Pius Oluwole Akinyelure, APC vice chairman, South West has decided to distance himself from party activities of Ondo State especially from the inception of the current administration.
What however cannot be taken away from the public observation is the frosty relationship that exists between the APC chieftain and the state governor, Rotimi Akeredolu.
After openly declaring his support for Segun Abraham at the State 2016 Gubernatorial primary election of the party and later supporting Olusola Oke of Alliance for Democracy during the governorship election, the going has not been rosy between the two.
From the premise of investigation and observation, Governor Akeredolu's political foes appeared to be Akeyelure's political allies within the APC family in Ondo state.
Not long ago, Governor Akeredolu had publicly disowned the senator representing Ondo North, Prof. Ajayi Boroffice.

"Yele Omogunwa I know, Tayo Alasoadura I know but the other one I don't know" Akeredolu declared while presenting his 1st anniversary speech before the mammoth crowd comprising the party national leaders that graced the occasion in Akure.
But on Thursday, Akinyelure described Senator Ajayi Boroffice, who is representing Ondo North, as a good representative of the state in the National Assembly.
“I want to say that we are satisfied with the achievements of Senator Boroffice in the Senate. We are proud of his achievements in the Northern Senatorial District. the South- West leaders of the APC are proud of his contribution in the Senate."
Akinyelure made this statement at the first Ondo State Role Model Award organised by the Omoluabi Reporters in Akure.
Apparently irked by the comment, party members across the state called on their national leaders to remove the south west chairman of the party for peace to reign in Ondo state.
Kayode Ojo, an APC member in the state said it is wrong for a party leader to make such a statement.
"Akinyelure is supposed to be the father of everybody in APC in the state by virtue of his position. For him to have said that, shows he is happy with the crisis lingering between Senator Ajayi Boroffice and Governor Akeredolu."
On her part, Fola Adedugba maintained that there is nothing wrong in what he said but when and where he made his statement is the issue.
"He knows there is crisis between the senator and the state governor. All he ought to be working towards at this moment is how to bring in the party national leaders to solve the crisis amicably and restore peace among the members.
But for him to have said that, shows he is not a good leader and I think it is high time the party excos called for his resignation for peace to reign."
But a chieftain of the party, who did not want to be mentioned, said he wasn't surprised with the statement.
"If you look at the genesis of the party's problem in our state, you will realize Akinyelure was the major architect.
"He had never wanted Akeredolu to emerge as the candidate and when he failed on that, he went ahead to work against him at the governorship election but God was with Akeredolu all through.
"As things stand, the best the national leaders can do is to remove him in order for peace to reign. Everyone of us has lost confidence in him. That is the truth" he concluded.
When contacted, the APC publicity secretary in the state, Omoba Abayomi Adesanya said Chief Akinyelure was entitled to his opinion.
