A former House of Assembly and Chairmanship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State, Babajide Obanikoro, is joining the All Progressives Congress on Friday, February, 16, 2018.

Babajide is the son of the former Minister of State for Defence, Musliu Obanikoro.

His defection comes few weeks after his father dumped the PDP and pitched his tent with APC

Bounce News gathered that the event would hold at the ward level at Mosley Road, Ikoyi.

Babajide popularly referred to as IBO enjoys popular support and goodwill of the Eti-Osa people because of his humility, decency and kindness.

The defection of Babajide seems to be a death knell on the activities of the opposition PDP in the local government just in the manner the defection of his father ended any chance of survival of the PDP in the state .

Leaders of the APC in the local council area who preferred anonymity described his declaration as home coming.

They noted that his massive followership which cuts across all ethnic groups and their structures are now to be collapsed into the ruling party.

“I can confirm to you that Ibrahim is officially joining us on Friday. We are not surprised because his father who is our leader had done so few months ago. It is a home coming for him and we are now safer knowing that all his followers and their structures would be ours making the APC more formidable in future elections.

The young Obanikoro won the chairmanship election of the Ikoyi Obalende Local Council Development Area conducted in October 2012.

Even though a Tribunal set up by the Lagos State Government declared him winner of the election after proving his case, his victory was, however, upturned at the Appeal Court.
