NSF 2018: 17 States Yet To Win Any Medal In Abuja
Almost half of the teams competing at the 19th National Sports Festival are yet to win any shade of medals at the multi-sports event.
Quite surprisingly, the home state of the Minister of Youth and Sports Minister Solomon Dalung, Plateau State are among the states lagging behind.
Aside Plateau, the other states whose medal kitty are empty are; Zamfara, Taraba, Sokoto, Kwara, Kogi, Kebbi, Katsina, Jigawa, Gombe, Enugu, Ekiti, Ebonyi, Borno, Akwa Ibom and Adamawa.
On their part, the defending champions, Delta state continued from where they stopped in 2012 as they have raked in 20 gold, 4 silver, and 8 bronze medals as at the time of filing this report, on Monday.
Team Delta have raked in 32 medals altogether.
Rivers State are in a distant second with 5 gold, 7 silver and 11 bronze medals.
The host city, FCT are pulling their weight as they are presently sixth on the medals table with 3 gold, 2 silver and two bronze medals.
