Taraba state command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps can be proud of a job well done after nabbing 33-year-old ex-policeman, Zaradeen Abdullahi.
The former officer, who is from Bauchi, alongside three other suspects who specialise in car theft were arrested.
Parading the suspects before the media at the command headquarters located along Mile Six road in Jalingo metropolis, the state Commandant, Kamilu Ado Isa said the suspects have been terrorizing the people of Jalingo.
“The four suspects are syndicates of youths who specialized in stealing cars from the neighboring states of Gombe, Adamawa Bauchi, and Kano.”
Following a tip off, the commandant said one of the suspects was arrested by security operatives in Chan town along Gombe/Bauchi road while conveying one of the stolen cars to Kano state for sale.
Admitting to the crime, the suspected ex-policeman, said he was compelled to bow out of the police force following the inhuman treatment meted on him by his subordinate as a result of a girlfriend.
Activities of the command as made known by him, have reduced to the barest minimum theft of transformers, cables and other public facilities adding that their Anti-vandals unit are always on alert.
“We have reduced their activities because of surveillance and constant patrols.”
Reiterating the command's determination not to relent in clamping down on hoodlums scattered in the nooks and crannies of the state, he admonished the people to be security conscious and to be wary of persons they are admitting as tenants.
