Rangers International F.C are having a good run in the CAF Confederation Cup.

However, in their first game of the season in the NPFL, they were beaten 1-0 by MFM FC at the Agege Stadium.

Wednesday’s match day 4 result at the Soccer Temple wasn’t a function of MFM being the better side but it was more to Rangers’ profligacy, the Flying Antelopes Coach Gbenga Ogunbote has posited.

Rangers was made to rue their missed opportunities in the 25th minute when Adeniji Kabiru reacted quickest to stab home the only goal of the encounter.

This came after Rangers’ Ghanaian shot stopper, Nana Bonsu had made a brave save a few minutes earlier but his defenders failed to clear lurking danger.

Coach Ogunbote said after the encounter, “There are no excuses to make. We failed to take our chances and lost the match. The game has be won and lost. All we have to take away are the positives. We lost the game to carelessness.”

Rangers next encounter in the NPFL is a home game against eternal rivals, Enyimba International F.C in the first ‘Oriental Derby’ of the season slated for the main bowl of Nnamdi Azikiwe stadium, ‘The Cathedral’, Enugu, on Sunday, January 27, 2019.
