Kano Pillars were denied the chance to return to the summit of the Nigeria Professional Football League table on Monday after they were forced to a 1-1 draw by Niger Tornadoes at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano.

It was Junior Lokosa who rescued Pillars from defeat as he scored from the penalty spot nine minutes from time to cancel out Andrew Ikefe’s 19th minute strike for the visitors.

Monday's goal is the 11th of the season for Lokosa who is firmly on course to break Mfon Udoh’s record of 23 goals mark set four seasons ago.

Pillars remain in second position with the draw, two points behind Lobi Stars who lost 2-1 against Nasarawa United on Sunday.
