NPFL: Rivers United, Eyes Win Against Heartland
Rivers United and Heartland FC will re-enact their rivalry in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) on Wednesday, April 4 at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium, Port Harcourt.
The two sides go into Wednesday’s game on the back of contrasting results from match day 13.
United were narrowly beaten 3-2 by Lobi Stars last term out while Heartland beat Nasarawa United 2-1 at the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri on the same day.
Heartland currently occupies the fourth and final relegation spot in the NPFL and are in desperate need of the points on Wednesday.
United on the other hand, have amassed just one more point than Heartland and know that anything other than an outright victory against Heartland will see them get involved in the relegation dog fight.
Technical manager of Rivers United, Stanley Eguma is as experienced as they come. He believes his side can climb up the standings rapidly.
“Goal scoring was difficult for us at the beginning of the season but we have started scoring goals now” Eguma told our official website, www.riversunitedfc.com.ng.
“We scored two goals in our last game against Lobi Stars.
“I believe we will attain stability by the end of the first round and I am sure that we can reach the top of the league table,” he said.
