New recruits to the Nigeria national team Stephen Odey and Ibrahim Alhassan were among the goal scorers on the Match Day 25 games of NPFL.

Despite getting on the scorers’ sheet Odey and Alhassan enjoyed mixed fortunes.

Odey returned to scoring form as he was on target for MFM FC but it was not enough as Kano Pillars won 3-1 at the Sani Abacha Stadium.

The goal scored in Kano was Odey’s 15th this season.

The defeat means MFM are now third on 40 points in the league table.

In Uyo, Alhassan was on target for Akwa United as they registered a 2-0 win over Kastina United.

Elsewhere, Plateau United almost snatched a point in Umuahia but a brace from Shedrack Asiegbu secured a 2-1 win for the Abia Warriors.

Asiegbu completed his brace when he converted a 98th minute penalty after a foul on Sherif Bashir.

Despite the loss, Plateau United maintain their leadership on the log, five points ahead of second-placed El Kanemi Warriors who ended their three-game drought run with a 2-0 win against struggling Remo Stars.

Defending champions, Rangers held Niger Tornadoes to a 0-0 draw in Minna while at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan, Shooting Stars defeated ABS 2-0.

In Lafia, Enyimba could not take advantage of Plateau United’s slip up as the People's Elephant lost 1-0 to Nasarawa United.

The only goal of the game was scored by Bashir Abdulrahman in the 48th minute.
