NPFL: Plateau United Keep Top Spot
Plateau United are still the number one team on the Nigeria Professional Football League table after they recorded a 2-0 win over Kano Pillars in their Match Day 13 contest in Jos on Sunday.
Pillars were on a five-match unbeaten run before heading to Jos and many had tipped the former champions to come out unscratched frpm Sunday’s game.
However, that was no to be as the Tin City boys overpowered the Kano team to hold on to the number one spot on the NPFL log.
The first goal of the match was scored in the 14th minute of the game by Ibeh Johnson while captain and the club’s highest goal scorer, Golbe Elisha, scored the second goal in the 55th minute of the second half.
Plateau Untied have 25 points from 13 games.
Elsewhere, Shooting Stars of Ibadan forced Gombe United to a 1-1 draw in Gombe as Abia Warriors secured a 2-1 home victory against Lobi Stars.
Also El-Kanemi Warriors continued their home invicibility by securing a 2-0 win against Niger Tornadoes.
In Uyo, Akwa United defeated Sunshine Stars 3-1. The four goals scored in the explosive encounter came in the first half.
Earlier on Saturday, Enyimba of Aba and MFM played out a 1-1 draw with striker Stephen Odey scoring his eighth goal of the season.
Two matches were postponed due to CAF Champions League assignments of Rangers and Rivers United.
