NPFL: Nine FC Ifeanyi Ubah Players Get 12-Match Ban
They were supposed to be football players but they turned wrestlers during an NPFL game away from home.
Nine players of Nigeria Professional Football League side, FC Ifeanyiubah have bitten more than they can chew and they have now found themselves at the wrong side of the LMC.
For assaulting a referee during their match day-36 away game to Niger Tornadoes in Lokoja, top FC Ifeanyiubah players, Ngoma Luamba, Elu Wilson, Isaac Loute have been suspended for 12 NPFL games each.
Also banned for 12 NPFL games are Stephen Eze, Adeleye Olamilekan, Michael Egbeta, Uchenna Godfrey Jr, Douglas Nkrumah, Kone Soumaila
A statement from the LMC also announced that FC Ifeanyiubah's Secretary, Chidi Nwogu and kit manager Adirika Obiefuna are banned for next 19 NPFL games for assault on match officials.
The suspensions on FC Ifeanyiubah players and officials take effect immediately.
FC Ifeanyiubah as a club was charged for breaching NPFL Framework and Rules during their Matchday 36 game vs Niger Tornadoes.
The club failed to control and ensure proper conduct of their players and officials during the NPFL game.
For their inaction, FC Ifeanyiubah are to pay a fine of N750,000 for failure to control their players and officials during the NPFL game in Lokoja.
The LMC also ruled that FC Ifeanyiubah will pay N500,000 being N250,000 each to the assaulted referee and assistant ref plus certified medical bills.
