NPFL: Akwa United Move To Second Spot
Akwa United are continuing their steady rise on the Nigeria Professional Football League log and they have now moved into second place despite still having two outstanding games.
Super Eagles midfield maestro Ifeanyi Ifeanyi scored a spectacular free kick as Akwa United came from a goal down to beat ten-man Heartland FC 2-1 at the Godswill Akpabio international Stadium in Uyo on Wednesday.
The Midfielder's free kick cancelled out Francis Momoh's early strike before Katoh Haggai scored in the second half to motivate the Promise Keepers to a 2-1 victory.
With the win, Akwa United moved to the 2nd position on the log with 22 points from 11 matches, despite having two outstanding games.
They also extended their unbeaten home run to 24 matches.
The Promise Keepers will next battle Abia Warriors on Sunday at the Nest of Champions.
