Senate President, Bukola Saraki has praised the Nigerian movie industry.

He said Nollywood is a  decent industry that has not been well funded because it has not been given the needed attention.

Saraki made the remarks during a courtesy visit by the leadership of the Actors Guild of Nigeria and top movie practitioners.

This comes ahead of the People's Democratic Party's presidential primaries.

"This is a decent industry...it's my belief that if duly supported Nollywood will not only be number one in the world but will create job opportunities, increase the country's GDP and reduce poverty," Saraki said.

Saraki promised to change how actors are viewed if elected as president of Nigeria.
