NOLLYWOOD: AGN Gets 5million Naira To Support Ill Film Stars
The Actors Guild of Nigeria under the leadership of actor, Emeka Rollas, has secured the sum of 5 million Naira for ailing members.
The money was donated by the Senate President, Bukola Saraki when the leadership of the AGN visited him.
In a statement by the guild, the organization stressed the necessity of setting up of the AGN foundation with the sole mandate of generating a Five Hundred Million Naira endowment (500million Naira ) fund for ailing actors.
"Veterans who have contributed to the development of the industry most times do not have anything to fall back on after so long number of years of service.
In the recent past the guild has lost prominent actors to serious illnesses due to certain medical conditions which could have been averted.
"If there was a medium or platform set aside to harness the strength of the association to fund medical treatment of our own or a source for funding from philanthropist or Nigerians to help rescue their legends," the statement read in part.
Aisha Abimbola, Chukwudi Bambino Anachina and Uduak Akrah are some of the Nollywood stars who have died in 2018.
