“Still Water Runs Deep,” a Nollywood short film will premiere at the 2017 Toronto International Film Festival.

Written and directed by Abbesi Akhamie, the short film tells the story of a father who must withstand his emotions and preserve his pride when his estranged son goes missing.

Shot in Afowa-Uzairue, Edo State in South-south region of Nigeria, the film had Lala Akindoju on board as the casting director and co-producer.

Lala Akindoju lines up with Toyin Oshinaike, alongside Rita Edward and Yemi Adebiyi.

Akindoju also starred in "Okafor's Law,".

Abbesi Akhamie is a writer, director, and producer currently based in New York City. 

She was born in Heidelberg, Germany and is of Nigerian descent. 

She has a BA in Communications from George Mason University and is an MFA candidate at New York University graduate film program. 

Over the past 5 years, she have made several short movies that have been featured at various festivals.
