Arnaut Danjuma has joined the growing list of Nigerians and players of Nigerian descent to score in the UEFA Champion League.

Dajuma looked sharp on Wednesday night as he scored for Club Brugge in their away game against Atletico Madrid.

The 21-year old has, however, played down his achievement saying it would have been sweeter if Club Brugge had won at Atletico Madrid.

Lagos-born Danjuma curled a beauty to draw Club Brugge level in Spain Wednesday night only for Atletico to go on to win 3-1.

“I am happy with my goal, but when in the end you lose 3-1 it is just something for the statistics which does not really help you further,” lamented a disappointed Danjuma, who is eligible to play for the Super Eagles through his Nigerian father.

“They need only a few chances to score, but I think it was not necessary to concede the second and third goals.”

Both Borussia Dortmund and Atletico Madrid now have six points apiece from two matches, while Club Brugge and Monaco are pointless.
