Nigerian Lawmakers Draw Battle Line With Airline Operators
Passengers who regularly fly, will be happy to hear that lawmakers are on their matter.
The House of Representatives, are interested in airline operators respecting air passengers at all times.
So the law makers mandated its Committee on Aviation to ensure that the rights of airlines’ passengers were respected, by liaising with relevant government agencies.
This new reason to smile for most Nigerians who take to the skies, was based on a motion promoted by Yusuf Tajudeen (Kogi, PDP) on the floor of the House.
While presenting the motion, Tajudeen said that the rights of air passengers were violated by local airline operators.
He mentioned that the service and conduct of the local airlines were questionable.
Listing flight delay, ill-treatment of passengers and discriminatory fares ,as part of the problems.
He added that, some airline operators devised shady and unwholesome practices in their respective local engagements.
The Speaker, Yakubu Dogara, then adopted the motion with a unanimous voice vote.
Nigerians can now look forward to getting better treatment, when they patronize local airlines, once the bill is passed into law.
