Nigeria is getting one more university to cater to those who have special interest in Information Technology.

On Tuesday, the Acting President told a forum that the Federal Executive Council, FEC has given a nod to a proposed Information and Communications Technology, ICT university

This is good news to tech nerds and enthusiasts who are looking for certified specialized education.

The proposed university has been in the works.

The implementation committee of the proposed university submitted its report to the Minister of Communications, Adebayo Shittu, about three weeks ago.

Shittu had said the report would go to the FEC for approval thereafter.

But speaking at the opening of a two-day summit on Smart Cities in Nigeria in Abuja on Tuesday, the Acting President said, “the Federal Executive Council has given approval for the establishment of the ICT University of Nigeria across the geo-political zones in the country”.

He added: “Our expectation is that, given its mandate, the university will bridge the knowledge and skill-set gap towards our march to a knowledge-based economy in Nigeria.”
