Nigerian Army University To Begin In September
The Nigerian Armed Forces insists Borno state is safe and so also are other states in the country's war torn north-east region.
The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai confirmed the establishment of the institution shortly after meeting with Governor Kashim Shettima in Maiduguri, the state capital.
The COAS thanked the Borno state government for allocating sufficient plots of land which will serve as construction site for the university which would be the first of its kind in West Africa.
Governor Shettima commended the military for being resolute and selfless in the fight against terror across the country and for the safe return of 106 of the abducted Chibok school girls.
Buratai gave an assurance that the institution would be build on the principles of the Nigerian army to serve with integrity, courage and discipline. He also told newsmen that funding for the school was included in the 2017 budget.
So, there is one more addition to the list of schools to which an undergraduate resident in north-east Nigeria can aspire to attend.
The university will be located in Biu Local Council Area.
