Cases of human rights violation by Nigeria's armed forces are still being recorded across the country.
But more people are standing up to hold the army accountable for the deeds of its officers and men.
The Nigerian Army has apologized and settled out of court, after, soldiers from the 174 Battalion, Ikorodu in Lagos state attacked and brutalized, Ruth Orji.
The Army said 'sorry' on behalf of Major S.U.Obongha for the insane attack on Ruth.
Major S.U. Obongha, himself tendered unreserved apology to the Ruth, and after the apology, monetary compensation was discussed.
The lady was dehumanized by 6 soldiers in March this year, after she challenged them for slapping her brother. According to the Nigerian Army the soldiers involved have been arrested.
There was a public outcry after photos of her battered body surfaced online.
An NGO, the Joint Legal Action Aids, picked up her case and filed a legal process at the Federal High Court against the Nigerian Army and her assailants, demanding for 250 million Naira as compensation.
