The Gombe State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp (NSCDC) is not giving anything to chance during elections.

It said it will deploy 700 personnel to ensure the peaceful conduct of the upcoming general elections across the 11 Local Government Areas of Gombe State.

The State Commandant Altine Sani Umar who stated this during a press briefing on Wednesday in Gombe, also assured that the security outfit is also partnering with other security agencies in the State to tackle crime.

She also added that the Corp would collaborate with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the state for free, fair, credible and peaceful polls. 

The commandant further warned the general public to shun any act that can cause violence or breaking down of law and order in the state, stressing that the Corp will not compromise in ensuring peace across the state.

“We are ready to perform our duties of ensuring peace in the society, before, during and after the election.

“The general public most especially the youths are hereby warned, because anyone found wanting on that day would not be spared,” she added.

She also enjoined registered voters to remain calm or go back home after casting their votes to avoid being used to cause chaos at polling units.

“Our men will be on ground to provide security services around polling stations across the state. I would also be joining a team of heads of security agencies that will be patrolling the state to ensure that the election is peaceful.”
