Kaduna state governor, Nasir El Rufai will still have Barnabas Bala Bantex as his deputy after the 63-year-old suffered a defeat in his move to become a senator.

Sen. Danjuma La’ah (PDP-Kaduna South) beat the deputy governor to win the just concluded election for the Kaduna South Senatorial District.

Mr Suleiman Yashim, INEC Returning Officer who announced the result on Monday in Kafanchan said Sen. Danjuma La’ah of the PDP scored a total of 268,923 to defeat Bala Bantex of the APC, who scored 133,287 votes.

Other runner-up candidates include, Rijo Shekari of the SDP who scored 9,609 votes, Benedict Kura of ADC who scored 2,741 with eight others.

Other results are being awaited at the collation centre, INEC officer said.

“I have decided to offer myself as the APC candidate for the Kaduna South Senatorial District in the forthcoming 2019 election. I will continue to serve as Deputy Governor of Kaduna State while pursuing this aspiration" Bala Bantex had said in July 2018.
