At least 10 explosions have been allegedly recorded in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital.

The incident is alleged to have occurred at about 6am with suspected suicide bombers setting-off explosive devices.

Security operatives have been seen on major highways and some Air Force fighter jets have also been hovering around the affected local council areas.

According to Ahmed Salkida, a terrorism reporter, the situation could force some people to stay away from polling units.
