#NigeriaDecides2019: At Least 10 Explosions Recorded In Borno, Yobe
At least 10 explosions have been allegedly recorded in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital.
The incident is alleged to have occurred at about 6am with suspected suicide bombers setting-off explosive devices.
Security operatives have been seen on major highways and some Air Force fighter jets have also been hovering around the affected local council areas.
According to Ahmed Salkida, a terrorism reporter, the situation could force some people to stay away from polling units.
"Several suicide Bombers and mostly RPG fire targeted towards the metropolis from the outskirts, the response by Nigerian troops has made Boko Haram not to march on into the city centre.
The situation seems to have been contained by the Nigerian troops. Hopefully people will be assured to go out and cast their votes, but there is also the urgent need for air surveillance and body search of every person walking in the streets of Maiduguri", he tweeted.
The North-East is supposedly the strong-hold of the PDP's Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar who hails from Adamawa state.
