It has been a rewarding year for sports in Nigeria in 2017 and the country is signing off with yet another triumph; though in one of the so-called lesser sports.

Nigeria's female representatives at the just concluded International Beach Volleyball tournament in Yaoundé, Cameroon have emerged champions of the tournament.

This follows the Team Nigeria's 2:0 Victory over host country, Cameroon Team 1.

The match ended 21-15,23-21 in the finals described by experts as explosive and tactical.

Team Nigeria (Male) however lost in the male finals to the host country, Cameroon by 1:2 at 21- 17, 19-21 and 16-18 to emerge runners up of the tournament.

The team Nigeria Coach, Imoudu Francis who was excited about the results declared that Nigeria is now a force to reckon with in the game of beach volleyball in the continent.

He lauded the players for displaying the stuff they are made of proving their superiority and supremacy over their opponents, and also appreciated the NVBF Board led by Musa Nimrod for their support in all ramifications to record the modest achievements in Cameroon.

The president of the Federation, Musa Nimrod who congratulated the contingent for making Nigeria proud described the victory as an end of the year gift to the nation, NVBF board and other stakeholders who have contributed to the modest achievements recorded in the year 2017.

The players and officials are expected to arrive Nigeria on Sunday 31st of December, 2017.
