He is far from being labeled a success in his first six months with the Barcelona B team but nonetheless, Ezekiel Bassey is hoping he gets an extended contract for him to prove his mettle with the Catalan giants.

There was so much expectation when Barcelona announced a loan deal for Bassey from Enyimba early in the year, however delayed work permit and more importantly, an injury blow never allowed the Nigerian star to blossom in Spain.

With just days to the expiration of his loan deal, the one wish for Bassey is for Barcelona officials to activate the clause which allows them to sign him on for two years.

“I could not play earlier in the season because my work permit was delayed, I was granted a work permit only last month

“Along the line, I got injured. It was a shoulder injury but I am okay now” he told allnigeriasoccer.com.

The striker is in the dark whether or not Barcelona will buy him outright from Enyimba.

“The season just ended on Sunday. The club have to meet to decide if they will keep me or not, I still have a contract with them until June 30,” concluded Bassey.

Barcelona B secured promotion to the Segunda división B group II following their victory over Racing de Santander in the play-off final on Sunday, but the Enyimba loanee did not make a single appearance for Gerard López’s side over the course of the season.
