Nigeria Has No Right To Arrest Our President - MASSOB Zonal Leader
Movement of the Actualization of the Sovereign State for Biafra (MASSOB), and its affiliate body Biafra Independence Movement (BIM) are not happy with the order of Justice Kemakolam Ojiako to imprison Chief Ralph Uwazuruike.
Zonal Leader, Ebonyi North Zone MASSOB-BIM Vincent Nwamini, said the order was given in error because Biafra is one country and Nigeria is another country, and not justified to give such order to arrest the President of Biafra.
Nwamini, who further disclosed that Justice Kemakolam Ojiako acted a script, noted that the Nigerian judiciary was corrupt, and has failed to be the last hope of the common man.
“I heard it and I saw it as a joke because Nigerians are jokers. The Nigerian judiciary is a joker. This is not the first time they have ruled against somebody they do not see.
“The level of corruption in Nigeria has made Nigerians blind, deaf and dumb. A country that is deaf, dumb and blind is no longer a country. In every country, the judiciary is the last hope of the common man, but in Nigeria, a judge is given a script to act and dictated what to say and how to say it.
“That one month imprisonment slammed on Uwazuruike, it is just a joke. Nigeria judiciary cannot imprison him,” he said.
He stated that Biafra has all the paraphernalia to be addressed as a country, that they were just waiting for the international community to grant them sovereignty.
“Biafra Republic is existing. What we are waiting for is the sovereignty of Biafra. We have our security, currencies, we have our international and national passports. You should know that it is security that made up a country and we have the security. So, for today, Biafra is in existence.
“Uwazuruike has actualized Biafra for a long time. What we are waiting for is for the international community to officially congratulate our leader, Ralph Uwazuruike on the existence of Biafra, which can happen from any moment now.
“I am urging our members to be strong because that nonsense and purported statement cannot discourage anyone. We should forge ahead because nothing will happen.
“We shall continue to make the international community to know about the violence meted on us by the Nigeria government because we are non-violent organization. We can never resort to violence until we achieve our goal.
“The judge that gave that reason should know that Biafra is a ‘country’ and Nigeria as a country cannot give judgement to another country. So the only court matters between Nigeria and Biafra can be entertained is the International Court of Justice and not Owerri Court.
“The Owerri Court is not competent to decide on the case of our President, Ralph Uwazuruike. It cannot be done and it can never be,” he maintained.
Recall that Chief Ralph Uwazuruike, founder of the Movement for the Actualisation of Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, was sentenced to one month in prison by a judge at the Owerri high court in Imo State, for his disobedience to appear before the court for a case in which he is the plaintiff.
