It is not looking good for the Super Eagles ahead of Friday's crunch clash against Cameroon in the 2018 World Cup qualifying series.

An injury has been confirmed for one of the goalkeepers, Daniel Akpeyi and he has subsequently been ruled out of Friday's contest at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium.

At the media briefing held at the Le Meriden Hotel on Wednesday, Super Eagles Coach Genort Rohr said the Chippa United shot stopper suffered a relapse of an injury.

Indeed, Akpeyi was an injury concern before he arrived the Nigeria camp, having missed his club’s last game before the international break and even though he was said to have only missed the game as a precaution, it appears it is more serious.

Akpeyi is one of three goalkeepers invited for the back-to-back games against Cameroon, alongside Ikechukwu Ezenwa and Dele Alampasu.

With this development, it is now a straight fight between Ezenwa and Alampasu for the number one shirt.
