New Super Eagles Jersey Gets 'Top' Rating
Though opinions are divided on the plausibility or otherwise of the newly-launched Super Eagles jerseys, a UK-based tabloid The Mirror has rated the new Nigeria playing kits as the best among those of the World-Cup bound teams revealed so far.
Via a Nike Football video on Wednesday, Super Eagles stars Mikel Obi, Wilfred Ndidi, Alex Iwobi and Kelechi Iheanacho were seen reviewing the new designs, which also included those made for Nigerian fans.
"It's incredible, frankly, and is bound to turn us all into Super Eagles in the summer." the Mirror stated in their ratings.
The designs will ignite memories of the patterned Adidas jersey the Super Eagles wore at the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations in Tunisia and their first World Cup in the United States of America that same year.
What appears to be the away kit has the shirt in predominantly light green background with bold white V-shaped patterns drawn on it. The sleeves are white underneath black patterns. The shorts are plain white.
The home shirt is all-green, this one darker than usual.
While reviewing the designs in a Nike video online, Mikel said: “I can see the players going crazy over this one.”
Ndidi also sounded excited, adding “This is cultural” in apparent reference to the patterned away kit.
“This is different, you know,” Iwobi added, while Iheanacho seemed happy with all the designs.
What is your take on the new Super Eagles jersey?
The 'V' in it for sure means victory for Nigeria at the World Cup that will begin on June 14, with the host nation taking on Saudi Arabia.
