New Chelsea Coach Wins First Game
Chelsea started life under new coach Maurizio Sarri on a winning note, beating Australian side, Perth Glory by a lone goal.
The game was played in front of 55,522 fans at Optus Stadium.
Spaniard, Pedro scored the only goal of the preseason game in the fifth minute.
Hard as the 2018 FA Cup champions tried to get more, they were well held after that, with Glory goalkeeper Liam Reddy pulling off a series of sharp saves in Monday’s tie.
Perth threatened to snatch an equaliser late in the game following the introduction of Diego Castro, Jason Davidson, Juande, and Brendon Santalab.
But it wasn't to be, with the Glory forced to settle for a respectable loss.
Chelsea were missing their World Cup stars, with the likes of Eden Hazard, Thibaut Courtois, N'Golo Kante, Willian, and Olivier Giroud still on holiday after their exploits in Russia.
