Neighbouring Taraba Communities Regrets Taking Up Arms
Mambilla and Fulani in Sardauna Local Government Area (LGA) of Taraba State are regretting their deeds.
They now admit that such acts will only cut lives short and distance development in the area.
So, they have vowed not to fight themselves anymore.
The natives made the pledge in a town hall meeting called by a high-powered Assessment Committee set up by the Governor Darius Ishaku.
The aim is to quantify the damage caused by the crisis in Mambila Plateau with a view to rebuilding the affected areas.
Acting Chairman of Sardauna LGA, Godwill Sol, in his remarks during the town hall meeting, told the committee that people of the area have vowed not to allow crisis retard development.
Sol explained that the people in the area could not afford to toy with the peace that was needed for the takeoff of the 3,050 megawatts Mambilla Hydro Electric Power Dam and other projects.
The Chairman of Fulani Chiefs in his remarks noted that all his members had assessed the situation and decided to say no to conflict.
"The crisis have been causing more harm than good to all the tribes and all the people of Mambilla Plateau.
"All the tribes have resolved to say no to anything that would breed crisis in this community.
Saleh Dula, Chairman of village Chiefs (Jauros) explained that most of the crisis that had occurred in the areas could not be traced to any convincing reason.
