#NASSUnderSiege: DSS Finally Backs Down
Men of the Department of State Security (DSS) blocked the National Assembly entrance, preventing lawmakers and other staff from gaining access to the building.
Fully masked with a black face-cover, the heavily armed men obeyed an ‘order from above’ to the letter.
While that was going on, their boss Lawal Daura was sacked by Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, who was obviously not happy with the turn of events.
Less than one hour of the sack of Daura as the Director General of the DSS, the officers stood down and vacated the National Assembly complex.
The mask-wearing officers, mainly of the SSS, who blocked entrance to the National Assembly from early hours of Tuesday, left the assembly gate at 2:49 p.m. Tuesday, August 7th afternoon.
They had earlier told senators and journalists they were acting on an order from above.
The senators who left the assembly complex earlier, were mainly of the opposition party, PDP.
Many senators of the ruling APC were not at the NASS on Tuesday amidst reports they were planning the removal of Senate President Bukola Saraki.
