N80m Ransom Demanded For Kidnapped Senator
Abductors of former Senator representing Ekiti North Senatorial District, Ayo Arise, has demanded for 80 million Naira ransom for his release.
Arise was kidnapped on Sunday by gunmen along with his driver in his Mercedez Jeep on the Okene-Abuja Highway while travelling back to Abuja from his country house in Oye-Ekiti.
"He visited Ekiti State on Saturday (for a ceremony) before returning to Abuja (on Sunday).
"It was when we wanted to establish contact with him and we could not that we started to worry. The last time I called him was around 6: p.m., so the kidnap must have taken place around 7:00 p.m.
“The kidnappers have contacted us and demanded for 80 million Naira as ransom. We are worried about him. The family is working hard to secure his release. We have contacted all the security agencies, including the police,” a family source was quoted as saying on Punch.
However, there is confusion about the location of Arise’s abduction. Police in Ekiti does not know his whereabouts, while their counterpart in Kogi have claimed there was no recorded case of kidnap within its territory.
