It’s another World Cup year and players and fans are looking forward to an exciting time at the Mundial.

Playing in the World Cup is every players’ dream and to have the honour of playing in two editions is a feat worth celebrating.

One of the few players with the opportunity of playing for Nigeria at that pinnacle is Garba Lawal.

Lawal in this interview with Bounce Sports revels in his experiences at the World Cup and struggles to pick only one moment as his GREATEST.

“I cherish every moment I played at the World Cup both France 1998 and Korea/Japan 2002,” Lawal began.

“The France 1998 was quite massive for me, it was just like the Atlanta 1996 Olympics" he recalled.

The Super Eagles opened their campaign against the star-studded Spanish team and they shock the world winning the five-goal thriller.

“I remember we started against Spain and it remains one of my best games ever as a football player.

“I scored a goal and provided the assist for Mutiu Adepoju and everybody also saw the wonderful goal scored by Sunday Oliseh” Lawal enthused

“If you look at the Spain team that we beat you will understand better, their bench was far better than the starting XI of most countries at the France 1998 World Cup, they were just unlucky” Lawal submitted as he picked the game as his GREATEST moment at the Mundial.

Nigeria will be making her sixth appearance at the World Cup Russia and many expect the tournament to throw up more memories that would last for years to come.
