Mutiu Adepoju Reveals Super Eagles' Biggest Threat In Group D
Former Super Eagles star, Mutiu Adepoju, has given his thought on which team will be Nigeria's 'biggest threat' in the Group stage of the Russia 2018 World Cup.
While many will think, Argentina will be the obvious choice for Adepoju, who was fondly referred to as the Headmaster in his playing days, the one-time midfield maestro says debutants Iceland are the potential banana peel in Group D for the Super Eagles.
Iceland and not Argentina are @NGSuperEagles' biggest threat. Fantastic draw and with adequate preparations, we should go as far as the semi-final. Go for gold Nigeria! #WorldCupDraw pic.twitter.com/WtQkU7qZcY— Mutiu Adepoju (@MutiuAdepoju8) December 1, 2017
Gernot Rohr's men will fly to Volgograd, where they take on Iceland at the 45,000 –capacity Volgograd Arena on Friday, June 22, 2018. Time is 6:00 p.m.
Iceland are heading to their first World Cup after victory over Kosovo on 9 October secured their place in Russia.
This is clearly a golden era for the Icelanders after they reached Euro 2016, where they memorably defeated England in their second-round tie before losing 5-2 against hosts France in the quarter-finals.
Nigerian versus Iceland will come up on Friday, June 22 and it will be the second group game for teams.
