Mother Disappears After Battering 2-Year Old Daughter
While neighbors see the act as a sheer wickedness, Mrs Funke Johnson seems to have attributed her approach against her own daughter as a way of correcting and bringing the best out of her.
But before she could be called on to defend her action against a 2-year old girl by concerned members of the public, she had bolted away and her whereabout remains unknown.
Mrs Johnson had allegedly beaten and brutalised her daughter with a pestle over her inability to count one to 100, and photos from the battery had gone viral.
According to one neighbor, Tope Boyede, the girl could not count 1-100 which apparently angered the mother who descended on her with the heavy object.
"This is not the first time it will happen and not the second time. The mother pounces on her at every slight provocation not mindful the fact that she is just two and a half years old.
"It was the cry of the girl that attracted the neighborhood on Wednesday evening and before we could get there to rescue her, she had been battered and seriously injured by her mother."
Another source who corroborated the narration said they planned to inform the police the following morning (Thursday, February 7th) and make her write an undertaking that will put a final stop to the abuse of the girl, but she had run away from the house.
A Police Sergeant at B division in Akure who spoke in confidence confirmed that a report has been made but the woman is yet to be arrested as she is still on the run.
The victim was said to have been taken to an undisclosed private hospital for proper medical attention.
