Morata Fires Blank As Chelsea Lose Again
Alvaro Morata was given his first starting role with Chelsea on Saturday but he could not deliver as the Blues were beaten 2-1 by Inter Milan in their International Champions Cup match in Singapore.
Many had expected the Spanish forward to hit the ground running following his £70million move from Real Madrid but failed to get on the scoresheet yet again.
Inter Milan raced into a two goal lead after Stevan Jovetic saw his penalty kick saved by Thibaut Courtois but fired the rebound into the back of the net.
Manchester United target Ivan Perisic scored the second goal to put the Italian giants in pole position.
But Chelsea were handed a lifeline back into the game in the most incredible way after Geoffrey Kondogbia scored a crazy own-goal from 40 yards.
Antonio Conte thought his side had salvaged a draw late in the game when Michy Batshuayi drilled home from close-range, but he was adjudged to be in an offside position.
Chelsea were also beaten in their last outing by Bayern Munich in which Morata came on as a sub but only grabbed an assist on his debut.
