With the news of the Monkey Pox disease already in Ekiti and Lagos states, residents of Osun state are getting agitated.

But state authorities say it has placed its surveillance officers on red alert ahead of any outbreak of the dreaded disease.

Speaking at the state Ministry of Health, the Commissioner of Health, Dr. Rafiu Kusamotu said the state is well prepared for the disease.

Dr. Rafiu Kusamotu said the state health sector has resolve the recent strike action meaning its workforce is fully ready to battle the disease.

They have prepared two quarantine centers across the state to properly manage the outbreak of the monkey pox disease.

Meanwhile, the chairman of the Hospital Management Board, Remi Aduroja warned that there is no confirmation yet to show that occurrences in the already mentioned states are indeed monkey pox.

This is because the results of their tests are still being awaited from Senegal by the Federal Government.

The state government therefore advised people in the state to be mindful of their hygiene, while maintaining the culture of hand-washing.
