The claim by former Resident Electoral Commission (REC) of Ondo State, Segun Agbaje, that he was offered bribe by former governor of the state, has been denied.

Agbaje, had alleged that Mimiko attempted to bribe him so as to upturn the results of the presidential and National Assembly elections in 2015.

An aide to the former governor, Eni Akinsola, has described the claim as a calculated attempt by the REC to discredit the former governor.

"Dr. Mimiko that I know will never descend that low. He is a man with integrity who stands on the Principle of rule of law and on the tenet of one man, one vote.

"When he contested the governorship election of the state for two different times which he won, he never bribed or attempted to bribe any REC, how then would he bribe anybody when he was not the one contesting the election?

"Mimiko has always been winning election in ondo state through his popularity and acceptability with the good people of the state. If Agbaje has a proof of his allegation, why did he wait this long before making it public?"

He, however, implored Nigerians especially, the good people of Ondo State to take the NEC revelation with a pinch of salt.
